Production Log #5 (11/05/2017)

Shot Type Storyboards:

We started of the day with creating a story board of different shots that where featured in the previous year presentation day videos. We had to screen grab what shot types interested us and we would use in our videos, then say what shot type it is and why it was important to use this shot type in the video. This was helpful to do this because it gave me ideas to what kind of shots I want to include in my video, as well as the feel of the video the client is looking for.

Filming:

Today we where told that we would be filming the Graphics course at West Kent College for the presentation day video. Regan, Jay, and I went up to the Graphics department to see what we would be filming and asked if now was a good time to film for them. They were happy for us to film because they had a student using the 3D printer at the time and wanted to showcase their new piece of equipment off in the video. We headed back to the media block to get the equipment we needed to film and briefly discussed what kind of shots we wanted to get and how we would bring it together in the editing. We then proceed to film the 3D printer in action and the setting of the Graphics rooms, this was good for this unit because we got a feel of what the clients where asking for in the video, as well as the kind of style we would be going for throughout the videos.

SD Card Log:

Regan and I then sat down after lunch and copied the footage we had filmed onto my hard drive, which then we reviewed the footage and noted down the shot number, the take number, the SD file name, and the description. We did this because when it comes to the editing stage it will be easier to look back on the file name and see what the video consists of. It is important we do this so when we do start editing it is already done and it goes as quickly as possible.
